Anonymous asked:Could you give us more info on the "Behind the Picture" series? Is every post going to be featured on Life's tumblr? If not, where on Life's website can we look out for it?
Hi there. Of course. Just to clarify, the “Behind the Picture” series is not exclusive to tumblr. You can view it on LIFE.com here. (don’t worry - I will always post it on LIFE’s tumblr though!)
Behind the Picture won’t be focusing solely on misinterpreted or misread iconic photos as it did with our first Bourke-White post. (however some most certainly will) The goal is to really give you the story behind an image, how it was made, etc. Some posts will involve getting the LIFE photographer who took the photographs to provide some insight from the shoot.
Our editor Ben Cosgrove really put it best “I think the entire series or franchise will be a celebration of some of the most recognizable, famous, iconic images of the 20th century — with LIFE.com discussing and, in some cases, correcting or demystifying the assumptions and even the myths that have slowly accumulated around these amazing photos.”
